Is it worth it?

Dear Aunt Anna,

I have been married 34 years and have no love left for my husband.  He is a nice enough man, I guess, but we have lived like brother and sister for so long now, and I have nothing to say to him.  Since I am in my mid fifties now does it make sense to get divorced with all the change or just wait to die?

Depressed,

Sarah

My good Sarah-waiting to die rather than getting a divorce fails the logic test for me!  Life is all about growth and change.  You are still a young woman, even if you feel covered in dust right now.  Go see an attorney who works in this area of law, and give yourself the self care you need.  Join some kind of exercise class and buy some new clothes.  Learn how to smile and breathe again.  Check back with me in a couple of months and let me know how you are doing.

Best wishes,

Aunt Anna
